The cannabis plant traveled with us throughout time as a good and faithful servant.
It provided a strong fiber with which we could hold things together, clothe ourselves and sail across the oceans; it gave us seeds rich in the precious fats we needed to build a bigger brain; and it provided us with a chemical that gave us the ability to laugh off that which we needed to laugh off.
Then, in very recent times, in provided us with something to prohibit, when we needed to prohibit something. This prohibition forced us to focus on the cannabis plant’s chemical tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) to the exclusion of all the other good things our faithful servant gave to us throughout time.
In the minds of many, if not most, the prohibition of cannabis is simply fizzing out. Those who want to get high on THC may do so without fear of going to jail, even where cannabis is still illegal. But as cannabis grows in acceptance, it loses its luster. And that leads us to ask:
