Guilty Eaters and Food Ethics
Guest: Cindy Glover, Data Analyst, Crestline Promotional Products
When a press release passed by my desk titled, “Americans Don’t Care About “Organic” Labels,” it most certainly caught my attention.
‘Oh!,’ I thought, ‘What do we care about?’
Turns out, the press release suggested, that we care about a lot.
In fact, a survey of 2,100 Americans in 25 cities conducted by the folks of the Crestline Communications Team suggests that our food ethics have turned us into a nation of guilty eaters.
Here are a few of the survey’s conclusions:
- Americans care least about “organic” labels and care most about “non-toxic” and “cruelty-free.”
- Over 80% of people would stop supporting their favorite brand if it did something that hurt the environment or was unethical.
- Americans feel the least guilty about eating meat.
And so, having developed an appetite for more, we pause to ask…
Leave a comment below: How do we decide which food is right and ethical which is wrong?
