The Big Business of Bison
Guest: Dave Carter, Executive Director U.S. Bison Association
How does one do business with bison?
America’s national mammal, the bison, is big business. Really, there is very little about it that can be small at all!
A mature bison bull can easily weigh a ton and run 35 miles per hour when in the mood, and that mood is often determined by group think, as the bison is, above all, a herd animal.
Furthermore, Bison are grazers, which means they eat while on the move. And to turn grass into a ton of protein, they need to eat a lot, which means bison need a lot of space to graze around in.
To engage in the business of bison, therefore, one needs to think big, and to think outside the confined animal feeding operation box.
And so we ask…how does one do business with bison?
Leave a comment below: Which do you think is the best source of protein?
