Glyphosate and GMOs – Who to Believe?
Guests: Caroline Cox, Center for Environmental Health
Rebecca Riley, Natural Resources Defense Council
NOTE: The Monsanto Corporation and the National Corn Growers Association refused to participate.
An area greater than the land mass of the United States or China has been planted in crops genetically-engineered to withstand the herbicide glyphosate.
There are two ways to look at this usage of glyphosate:
One perspective is from the farmer who, before the introduction of crops genetically-modified to withstand glyphosate, had to physically or chemically remove individual weeds in their fields, or lose the productivity of their crops to those weeds. With the GMO technology and its attendant glyphosate, one farmer may now grow a thousand of acres of crops with no weeds.
The other perspective is from the consumer who benefits from the cheap food to eat, but when considering that food, wonders what there is to eat but food saturated in a chemical that kills plants.
The Federal government of the United States says glyphosate is safe to eat, and has recently increased the amount of glyphosate allowed in the human body. However, the World Health Organization recently designated glyphosate as a “probable” cause of cancer. One interest says glyphosate is safe, the other says it is dangerous. And so we ask…

Be sure to invite the pro participants to drink a good tall glass of glyphosate if they believe their own hype. They may survive, but being hooked up to a kidney dialysis machine will limit their life style.
We sadly are witnessing how many of our govt officials. producer group advocates, academia members, and farmers have drunk the Koolaid and act like they believe their own lies. So have a pitcher of the stuff handy and a few red solo cups on hand for the party. Better yet have a few big muscular guys to pour it down their throats. They should enjoy it, just like the stooge in the French movie did when actually being invited to show it was safer than aspirin. He cried like a little baby. The workers from Sre Lanka or Guatemala never had that choice.
