We begin, again, with Michael Olson’s Second Law of the Food Chain: The farther we go from the source of our food, the less control we have over what’s eat our food.
When we grow our own food, we have total control over what goes in our food. But when we rely on others thousands of miles away to grow our food, we have very little control over what goes in our food.
Now for a corollary to the Second Law: When we grow our own food, we are more capable of managing our lives than if we rely on someone else thousands of miles away to grow our food.
There is a state in these United States, where controlling what goes into one’s food, and how one manages one’s life, is still governed by the principal of individual responsibility. That state is the Great State of Jefferson. And its citizens lead us to ask:
