When it comes to feeding the child, few children are more difficult to feed than those who are picky eaters.

Michael Olson Food Chain Radio – Picky Eater and Feeding the Obstinate Child
You know what they should eat, but they know what they will eat. When what you know they should eat, is not what they will eat, you are likely to be facing an obstinate child hunger strike.
For those who are trying to feed a child who will not eat what they are supposed to eat, there are three possible courses of action: (1) Confrontation, in which you set the food in front of the child and wait until he or she eats. (2) Negotiation, in which you offer a little of what the child wants on the condition the child eats a little of what you want them to eat. Capitulation, in which you let them eat what they want to eat and hope they grow out of their obstinance.
For parents of picky-eating children, this negotiation of getting the kid to eat can be emotional nightmare. After all, that food the child will not eat is their future. But if you are the child’s nanny, the difficulties of a managing a picky eating child are doubled, as you have both a troubled child and troubled parents to contend with. Given that double-trouble, who better to ask about how to feed the obstinate child than a professional nanny.
