In signs, banners, posters, slogans and testimony before congressional hearings, we are told: “Science is real!” “Facts matter!” And, “Ask for evidence!”

But what if the science is not real, the facts do not matter, and there really is no evidence? What if the science is just a real big lie?
In 2018, a judge for the Superior Court of San Francisco read the verdict in a first-of-its-kind suit against the agriculture chemical giant Monsanto, which is now part of the even bigger ag chemical giant Bayer. The suit accused Monsanto’s glyphosate-based herbicide Roundup of causing Dewayne Johnson’s cancer.
The jury found Monsanto guilty on every count, and furthermore, that Monsanto had acted with “malice, oppression, and fraud,” and therefore should be made to pay $289.2 million dollars.
That Monsanto had been found to be using “malice, oppression and fraud” to sell the world on the safety of its glyphosate leads us to ask:
