Human Evolution
Eating Up to a Big Brain!
Guest: Smithsonian Paleoanthropologist Dr. Briana Pobiner
When it comes to having a discussion of what is best to eat, we often sound like a bunch of hyenas fighting over the carcass of an antelope.
Some insist we must avoid eating industrial foods and only eat foods that have been certified organic under the direct supervision of the federal government. Then others will say we should avoid eating saturated fats and eat only foods from packages labeled, “low fat.” And then there are those who insist we should stop eating the flesh of animals and only eat plants and the derivatives of plants, like that Impossible Burger.
However, for this discussion, we are going to set aside our dietary squabbles about what we should eat, and go back, way back, to solve a mystery about what we did eat way back when that enabled human evolution to grow the big beautiful brains we now have that make us so smart.
Leave a comment below: What did we eat millions of years ago that made us so smart and advanced human evolution?
