Michael Olson Food Chain Radio – Eating Up the Earth?
We have, as a body politic, changed direction by voting out one President and voting in another.
The President we voted out was said to be very supportive of green energy initiatives to reduce carbon emissions. The President we voted in is said to supportive of a green economy, instead of green energy, and is campaigning with the battle cry, “drill, baby, drill!”
Our collective about-face forward-march has left many confused as to what we should now be most concerned with.
Here is what some say we should be concerned about: Though at least 95% of climate coverage and 97% of climate finance is focused on energy and fossil fuels, one-third of all global carbon emissions are generated by our food systems. And while the energy problem is getting better, the food problem is only getting worse. If such is indeed the case, we ask: Are we eating the earth?
Leave a comment below: Which do you think causes the most climate change: cars or cattle?
Michael Olson’s Three Laws of the Food Chain
