Continental Divide Trail and Food for the Long Walks
Guest: Hiker Jared Perry
The Pacific Crest Trail follows the crest of the Sierra Nevada and Cascade mountain ranges for 2,659 miles from Mexico to Canada through California, Oregon and Washington.
The Continental Divide Trail follows the crest of the Rocky Mountains for 3,100 miles from Canada to Mexico through Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, Colorado and New Mexico.
When the trails are strung together they offer a 5,759 walk, and that is like walking across America from sea to shining sea, and halfway back again.
But wait! These trails follow the crests of America’s most spectacular mountain ranges, which means hiking up one side of a mountain and down the other for 5,759 miles. And to walk the walk, one has to carry food, water and camping gear.
That Jared Perry walked the walk, leads us to ask him…
Leave a comment below: What does one eat while walking back and forth across America?
