Taking Dominion – Animal Husbandry

How should we take dominion over the animals we are to eat?
The good book tells us to take dominion over the fish of the sea, the birds of the heavens, the livestock and every creeping thing that creeps on the earth. But it does not tell us how.
How was never much of an issue throughout human history. We were hungry. They were food. We took and ate. That was that.
But then we moved to the city and consigned our dominion over all the animals we are to eat to those still out in the country. During the process of learning how to live in the city, we pretty much forgot about the exigencies of taking dominion. Not to worry! Someone always comes along with video to show how the exigencies are being managed by those to whom we have consigned our dominion-taking. And we are shocked by what we see and hear!
And so we city dwellers wonder about the ethics of those to whom we have consigned dominion over the animals we are to eat. We want them to be ethical in the raising of the animals, and that means… Well…
Leave a comment below: Is it possible to raise animals to eat in ways that satisfy the ethics of all?
